Why I Wanted Breast Augmentation
I decided to have surgery after this past year I shrank 2 sizes! I had 2 kids and was huge while I was pregnant. I was over a DD! I just wanted to fill in what I once had.
Researching & Finding My Surgeon
It started with my neighbor getting hers done. That gave me the encouragement to finally start to call around for my consultations. I went online and came across a couple different ones. One was Dr. Alexander, one was my neighbors, and the other was a referral from a friend. I really liked the way Dr Alexander had his website done.
My Consultations
My consultation with the first guy was ok. He had only looked at me for a brief second, then told me what he wanted to use. He wanted to go over the muscle and use the implants that can later on be filled or let out if it was not the right size. When I would ask him a question, they could not even answer them. So, then I went to Dr Alexander and he made me feel so comfortable. Answered all the questions and then some. I knew right away this was the one for me. I scheduled my date right then and there. I had decided to go for the McGhan high profiles 465 round smooth under the muscle with the crease incision.
Preparing For My Surgery
I had to go through blood tests, chest x-rays, mammograms, urine tests, and a clot test to make sure all was fine. I past! I had decided on my size, but was so scared it was to big! I went over it again and again. I used the rice test, showed all my friends, looked at hundreds of pictures, but still was not sure.
Surgery Day!
The day of surgery I woke up at 6 am. I was so nervous, I was running to the bathroom every 10 minutes! Then we finally left. I got there at 945am. 45 minutes early. They took me right back, gave me the IV and I sat. They took me back at about 1230pm. The Dr. came in to talk to me, make his marks, and when he was done, he even covered my feet in the blanket! I went to the surgery room, laid down and it was so warm. they had a heat pad, heated blankets, nice music playing, and the anesthesiologist was massaging my head as he asked me nice questions. I got that metallic smell in my nose, then in my mouth, got sleepy and was out.
My Recovery
Next thing I remember was barely waking up hearing the nurse ask if I was ready to go home. I was thinking, 'I just woke up and you are kicking me out already?" but, my hubby said I was there for over an hour. The ride home was horrible. The bumps and turns killed. As soon as we got home, I went straight upstairs and laid down. I think the hardest part was trying to get up the first time to use the bathroom. The pain of getting up, then trying to "wipe" was horrible! I got so hot and sweaty hubby had to wipe me down. I slept on and off all night. Hubby was great. Checked up on me every hour or so to give me pills or water. The next day I got the courage to finally look at my new friends. they were not as bad as I thought. They looked so good. I am very happy so far! Now, 3 days later, I am not as sore, but very tired.
My Advice For Pre-ops
My advice is to have everything ready before. I had a heat pad for my back, the whole time which helped greatly, lots of water, pillows, TV, phone right next to me, and a lot of help. I was lucky to not have gotten sick from any of the drugs. But I first started to nibble on crackers and yogurt. Even Slimfast is good if you can't eat but need the nutrients. Take it easy no matter how good you feel. Get lots of rest.
Any Last Comments
All I have to say is this is one of the best things I have done. I am very happy with my results and think anyone else will be too. Take your time to pick a Dr you are 100% comfortable with. Make sure you have lots of help. Oh, make sure this is YOUR decision. Not anyone else's! And- Good luck!!! I know you won't regret it!
