Mommy Makeovers Made Easy

  • Mommy Makeovers Made Easy

Rumor has it that reality TV star Kim Kardashian is planning an extreme mommy makeover after giving birth to her second child. She supposedly wants to get breast enhancement, a tummy tuck and liposuction, a source told Radaronline.com. Typically called a mommy makeover, this combination of procedures is already popular, but our collective desire to keep up with the Kardashians may further fuel this trend.

Here is a six-point breakdown of the mommy makeover procedure.

  • What is a Mommy Makeover?

Mommy Makeover - What is it?

A mommy makeover is an a la carte approach to body contouring after pregnancy and childbirth. Exactly which procedures are included varies based on unique aesthetic goals and post-pregnancy anatomy. The primary advantage of a mommy makeover is that all of the procedures are performed simultaneously. This reduces costs and downtime, but may also increase risk. Performing multiple surgeries at one time is known to be riskier largely because the operation takes much longer to complete.

  • Just Say When

Mommy Makeover - Just Say When

Most surgeons recommend waiting at least six months after having a baby before considering cosmetic surgery. This allows ample time for your body to reset. Most surgeons prefer that you stop breastfeeding before you schedule your mommy makeover.

  • Breast Enhancement

    Mommy Makeover - Breast Enhancement

Pregnancy and breastfeeding can cause the breasts to sag and deflate. Breast reshaping procedures are included in most mommy makeovers. Breast augmentation with implants can recreate the volume that motherhood may have stolen, and a breast lift (mastopexy) can raise and firm the breasts. A lift won't change the size, just the overall shape and position. It may be combined with breast augmentation to address both of the ways that pregnancy can affect the breasts. Some women may want to increase their breast size to go bigger than they were before pregnancy as opposed to merely restoring their pre-mommy body. Other women may choose breast reduction as part of their mommy makeover.

  • Tummy Tuck

    Mommy Makeover - Tummy Tuck

Pregnancy may result in excess skin, stretch marks and bulging in the stomach area. For these reasons, a tummy tuck is often part of the mommy makeover repertoire. Your surgeon will tighten the muscle layer and remove excess skin and/or fat. Liposuction may be added to achieve optimal results and more precise sculpting.

  • Buttock Augmentation

    Mommy Makeover - Buttock Augmentation

Not unlike your breasts after childbirth, your post-pregnancy buttocks may also be sagging and deflated. Buttock augmentation with implants or fat injections (also known as the Brazilian butt lift) can help you get your pre-pregnancy curves back... and then some.

  • Odds and Ends

Some women may also opt for liposuction to their hips, thighs and/or arms as part of a mommy makeover. Vaginal rejuvenation procedures are also becoming a popular choice. Surgical and non-surgical energy-based treatments can address sagging in this area. Discuss your goals with your plastic surgeon so he or she can create a customized mommy makeover just for you.
