Support Garments for Breast Augmentation Patients

Support garments are very important for proper healing after almost all types of breast surgery. Surgical bras or compression wraps are always used after  breast reduction surgery because they significantly help relieve suture tension, and can aide in reduction of swelling and pain during breast surgery recovery. Many breast surgery patients may feel uncomfortable when not wearing a support bra for several weeks after surgery.

Surgical Bra Price Range

Support garments may cost anywhere from $10 for a cheap sports bra to $120 for a high quality custom-made postoperative bra. The price depends upon the quality, the type of the bra, and whether you need custom alterations like I had to get. I have a very small band size and very large breasts and finding a good support bra that fit 32F was difficult. Everyone gasps when I say 32F, but my breasts really aren't that big. If I were a 34 or 36 they'd be about a D or DD in some bras. I just have a small ribcage for my body.

Support or surgical bras usually come in white or off-white, but more companies are offering beige and black models to their catalogs. Compare prices from your surgeon and from online companies. Compare the quality, too. You do not need a bra ripping as soon as you go to put it on or thin, flimsy straps breaking at an inopportune time. You should buy at least two bras, one to wear while the other is being laundered. Some bras should not be put in the dryer, so you will need to hang them to dry and will need to have another bra to wear.

I recommend Design Veronique Garments because of the quality of their products. I have had over 2000 recovery hours in their products. I had used cheaper products for my first surgery and I can honestly say there is a huge difference in quality. You don't have to worry about straps breaking, fabric ripping or running, or seams coming unraveled, and they are very comfortable. While they are more expensive than most brands, they are definitely worth it. I had to wear my support bra for months after my lift while I slept or around the house to keep my incisions from stretching and my lift from failing. They were comfortable to sleep in and wear around the house, and they stood up to being washed repeatedly. In fact, I still wear one at night!
