Breast Augmentation Costs

The price of breast augmentation surgery varies significantly depending on the plastic surgeon, the medical facilities, and what region of the country you are in. If you are having additional cosmetic plastic surgery such as a breast lift, reconstruction, or special breast remodeling, your breast augmentation surgery will be more expensive.

breast augmentation financing dollar billsDuring your consultation with your surgeon, you should get a list of what the breast augmentation surgery fee covers. Some surgeons quote you a price for breast implant surgery that includes everything, including anesthesia and follow-up care. Your breast augmentation surgery may occur in a free-standing surgical center, in a special surgical suite in your surgeon’s office, or in a hospital. Your surgeon’s fee may include the costs of this or may not. Make sure you know what the fee covers and what it doesn’t so that you don’t have any surprises.

In a hospital, surgery charges can usually be separated into five parts. In a free-standing surgery centers or an in-office surgical suite, the fees for a breast augmentation may of may not include the following:

  1. The surgeon's fee
  2. The anesthesiologist's fee (if applicable)
  3. The hospital charges, which includes nursing care and the operating room
  4. Medications (antibiotics, pain relievers, topical medications, dressings)
  5. Any additional charges

All fees noted here are averages. Medical costs vary a great deal from region to region in the country and some surgeons charge more than others. You may also have a separate fee for the hospital or surgical center, and for the anesthesiologist or anesthetist.

Before your breast augmentation surgery, you will almost always be required to have some blood tests done. The lab fees for these are usually extra and may range from $50 to $150. You may also be asked to have a physical examination with your regular physician. If you need to or choose to stay in a hospital overnight after your breast augmentation surgery or to choose to have home healthcare, those expenses are additional.

Financing Your Breast Augmentation Surgery

Health insurance will very rarely cover cosmetic surgery. However, cosmetic surgeries can be financed. There are companies out there, NewImage.com for instance, who offer financing for your procedure. Please click on the logo below for more information.

If you choose to finance your breast augmentation procedure, I recommend dealing with a finance company that deals only in plastic surgery financing, as they are more aware of the time you need to recover and seem to have more empathy for the patient.
